Espadrilles are the triumph of simplicity and the finest craftsmanship. The Juncal Aguirre designers and workers still pay the same meticulous attention to detail as those who would lovingly sew espadrilles in years gone by, because we strive to respect quality that has been proven generation after generation.
The hands of our craftswomen cherish a trade cultivated over centuries. These centuries have shaped the rocky landscape of Contrebia Leucade.
Contrebia Leucade was a Celtiberian city and is now one of the most impressive archaeological sites on the Iberian peninsula. During the harsh summers, its caves carved out of stone once acted as a shelter for the first women who would toil away sewing espadrilles.
Tradition, craftsmanship, quality… At Juncal Aguirre, we want to pay homage to this legacy in each and every one of our products.
