Size, Fit, and Instep: Get the Perfect Espadrille Fit Right Away
3 February 2026
The first step to loving a pair of espadrilles is for them to fit you like a glove. At Juncal Aguirre, we know this well, because we understand that a good choice doesn’t begin when you put them on, but much earlier: with the right size, the correct model, and knowing your foot.
The Importance of Knowing Your Foot
Our espadrilles are crafted on jute soles, which are handmade in full sizes; there are no half sizes. This means that the fit must be considered with more attention and, at the same time, with confidence. Because all the materials we use are natural, like jute, which is moldable, and you will soon feel like you are walking on something custom-made for you.
Some things to keep in mind:
- Closed toe and high heel: You might feel a little pressure at the toe at first. Don’t worry, with wear it will adapt to the contour of your foot.
- The stitching: This is the line that marks the end of the base. Your foot should not extend beyond it, neither at the front (toes) nor at the back (heel). If it does, you need a different size.
- Elastic or straps: They should fit snugly on the instep, but without pinching or allowing the foot to slip inside the shoe.
Models and Features
With elastic straps: One thing we love about elastic straps is that they adapt very well to any type of foot: wide, narrow, high instep. Some models like Tilia, Elara, Arki, Nimos, Uroa, or Mica are perfect for all foot types.
With high soles: They are very flattering. Models like Iris, Silene, Polaris, Itaca have a platform at the toe and a high wedge. If they are open-toed, you will need to consider that the wedge causes the foot to slide slightly forward, so it must fit well at the toe. We also have models with a slightly more balanced platform, such as Naos, Vega, or Zaniah.
With flat soles: Can you be elegant, modern, and comfortable? Yes, and with a lot of personality too. Models like Denia, Deba, Ibiza, Maia, or Izar prove that height does not define style: details, quality, and the way you move do. These espadrilles are designed for confident walking, adding character to your look, and effortlessly making your outfit shine, from morning to night.
Practical Recommendations for Choosing Well
We know that buying footwear online can raise questions, so here are our best tips:
- If you are between two sizes, choose the larger one. Jute gives slightly with wear, but it does not shrink.
- Always check the model’s product page, where we include specific details about its fit and shape.
- Try on your espadrilles at home comfortably, on a clean surface, and with rested feet.
We have prepared a guide so you can easily measure your foot. Pay attention to how to position your foot correctly, measure it, and find your size in the equivalence table. Place a sheet of paper on the floor, put your foot on it, mark your heel and your longest toe, then measure it, and you will know your size.
And remember:
The first size exchange is free, and we are also available to answer any questions via WhatsApp. Our team will advise you with warmth and expertise, because no one knows our espadrilles like those who create them.
